We draw on both research articles and documented experiences from practitioners. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The first article in the series focuses on the use of constellations in the legal system. \"Organisational constellations in business and management\" and \"The constellation method in mental health and health care\" will follow shortly. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Constellations in the legal system<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/belong.ee\/en\/constellations\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Family constellations<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (a systemic therapeutic method created by Bert Hellinger) and its further developments, including organisational constellations, have been applied in recent years in many fields around the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Argentina (Mendoza province):<\/b><b><br \/><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2023. In Argentina, in 2007, a justice of the peace in the province of Mendoza attracted attention for his use of alternative \"systemic law\" techniques to resolve family problems. For example, he directed parents who were not complying with their school attendance obligations to participate in reflection-based workshops (including biocoding) instead of the usual punishments.   <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiempoar.com.ar\/ta_article\/biodescodificacion-y-constelaciones-un-codigo-de-epoca-que-llego-a-la-justicia\/#:~:text=Una%20jueza%20de%20paz%20de,derecho%20y%20el%20%C3%A1mbito%20jur%C3%ADdico\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">[1]<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This approach yielded significant results - it is estimated that in around 80% of cases, children were successfully reintegrated into school, while fines were of no benefit. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiempoar.com.ar\/ta_article\/biodescodificacion-y-constelaciones-un-codigo-de-epoca-que-llego-a-la-justicia\/#:~:text=%E2%80%9CEn%20algunas%20contravenciones%20y%20seg%C3%BAn,como%20opci%C3%B3n%3A%20la%20persona%20puede\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">[1]<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although this judge mainly used biocoding (opening up the links between emotional patterns and illnesses) and biodanza (bodywork and movement therapy), this is part of a wider trend: alternative systemic practices, including family constellations, are increasingly prominent in the legal system. In Argentina, the term \"systematic law\" (Spanish: \"systematic justice\") has even been introduced.   <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Derecho Sist\u00e9mico<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), which stands for the application of the principles of family constellations in legal practice. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiempoar.com.ar\/ta_article\/biodescodificacion-y-constelaciones-un-codigo-de-epoca-que-llego-a-la-justicia\/#:~:text=El%20Derecho%20Sist%C3%A9mico%20tiene%20que,casos%20de%20herencias%20o%20divorcios\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">[1]<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The University of La Plata has launched a diploma course in \"Legal Coaching and Systemic Law\", aimed at lawyers in 2020, which teaches how to resolve disputes using family constellations.   <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiempoar.com.ar\/ta_article\/biodescodificacion-y-constelaciones-un-codigo-de-epoca-que-llego-a-la-justicia\/#:~:text=%E2%80%9C%C2%BFCu%C3%A1ntas%20veces%20un%20juez%20dicta,del%20Este%2C%20en%20La%20Plata\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">[1]<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. According to the promoters of the course, the aim is to achieve a \"more humane justice\", focusing on healing the real root causes of conflicts, rather than just legal resolution.  <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiempoar.com.ar\/ta_article\/biodescodificacion-y-constelaciones-un-codigo-de-epoca-que-llego-a-la-justicia\/#:~:text=%E2%80%98resolver%E2%80%99%20conflictos%20de%20los%20v%C3%ADnculos,casos%20de%20herencias%20o%20divorcios\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">[1]<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Similar practices are gaining momentum in Europe, where, for example in Spain, family constellations are increasingly used in the context of succession and divorce proceedings to help parties reach meaningful and lasting agreements. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiempoar.com.ar\/ta_article\/biodescodificacion-y-constelaciones-un-codigo-de-epoca-que-llego-a-la-justicia\/#:~:text=El%20Derecho%20Sist%C3%A9mico%20tiene%20que,casos%20de%20herencias%20o%20divorcios\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">[1]<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"et_pb_image_0 et_pb_image et_pb_module et_block_module\"><span class=\"et_pb_image_wrap\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/belong.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/konstellatsioonid-oigussusteemis-kaks-inimest-seismas-1024x574.png\" width=\"1024\" height=\"574\" srcset=\"https:\/\/belong.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/konstellatsioonid-oigussusteemis-kaks-inimest-seismas-980x549.png 980w, https:\/\/belong.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/konstellatsioonid-oigussusteemis-kaks-inimest-seismas-480x269.png 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw\" class=\"wp-image-26444\" title=\"constellations in the legal system of two people standing up\" \/><\/span><\/div><div class=\"et_pb_text_4 et_pb_text et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_module et_block_module preset--module--divi-text--default\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><p><b>Brazil:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Family constellations have been most widely implemented in the legal system in Brazil. A judge there   <\/span><b>Sami Storch<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">  started using the Hellinger method in family law cases in Bahia as early as 2006 and became a pioneer of the \"systemic law\" movement.   <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/rsdjournal.org\/index.php\/rsd\/article\/view\/20527#:~:text=research%20that%20investigates%20the%20performance,United%20Nations\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">[2]<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span>2012. By 2020, the use of family constellations had been formally introduced in Brazilian courts, in particular for mediating cases of domestic violence and custody.  <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.skeptic.org.uk\/2022\/04\/family-constellation-the-pseudoscience-retraumatising-victims-at-the-approval-of-brazilian-courts\/#:~:text=Family%20Constellation%2C%20ostensibly%20a%20form,for%20Integrative%20and%20Complementary%20Medicine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>[3]<\/span><\/a><span>. Storch achieved a remarkable result - almost all conflicts were resolved by agreement between the parties, applying Hellinger's systemic principles.  <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theknowingfield.com\/tkf29#:~:text=Sami%20Storch%3A%20Family%20Constellations%20by,revolutionise%20the%20Brazilian%20Justice%20System\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span>[4]<\/span><\/a><span>. <\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">His innovative approach was awarded a Brazilian Judicial Committee Prize in 2014, recognising the application of systemic regularities, such as 'love routines', to the administration of justice.\"   <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theknowingfield.com\/tkf29#:~:text=Justice%20System\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">[4]<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. In practice, this means that, as part of the judicial procedure, the following are organised.  <\/span><b>constellation session<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, where the parties and volunteers are put in roles to reveal the deeper familial and psychological patterns of conflict. This approach has been used successfully, for example, in divorce and custody disputes, where a traditional court trial could only exacerbate the conflict.   <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theknowingfield.com\/tkf29#:~:text=%E2%80%9CMr,Constellation%20in%20your%20daily%20work%3F%E2%80%9D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">[4]<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although several Brazilian judges have reported positive results (faster agreement, better cooperation in the best interests of the child, etc.), this approach has also generated controversy.  <\/span><b>Critics<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">  - including academics and victim support professionals - warn that the compulsory use of family constellations in courts can have a retraumatising effect on victims. For example, there have been cases where a woman who has suffered domestic violence has been forced to   <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">constellation<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> confronted with their abusive partner and even encouraged to \"forgive\" their abuser - a situation that can be extremely traumatic for the victim. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.skeptic.org.uk\/2022\/04\/family-constellation-the-pseudoscience-retraumatising-victims-at-the-approval-of-brazilian-courts\/#:~:text=forced%20to%20relive%20her%20trauma%2C,on%20in%20Brazil%20since%202012\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">[3]<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Brazilian sceptics say family constellations in court  <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\"pseudoscience\"<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which harbours a patriarchal ideology and could threaten the neutrality of justice (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.skeptic.org.uk\/2022\/04\/family-constellation-the-pseudoscience-retraumatising-victims-at-the-approval-of-brazilian-courts\/#:~:text=Family%20Constellation%2C%20ostensibly%20a%20form,for%20Integrative%20and%20Complementary%20Medicine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">[3]<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">).
